Sweden-headquartered Etac Group announces the acquisition of Freeburg, Ill-based Star Cushion Products Inc for an undisclosed price.
Etac Group notes that the acquisition was accomplished in order to strengthen its antidecubitus portfolio.
“With the acquisition of Star Cushion Products Inc, Etac will be able to deliver cohesive and holistic pressure care solutions to wheelchair users. To achieve the best posture for maximized occupational performance, a stable base with appropriate support and pressure distribution is critical. We can now deliver this through the Etac portfolio and hence offer users healthier and more active living in a wheelchair,” explains Etac CEO Torben Helbo in a media release.
Founded in 1995, the family-owned Star Cushion Products Inc has grown from manufacturing one chamber Standard Air cushions to multi-celled air solutions such as the StarLock, Galaxy, and Stabil-Air.
Helbo notes in the release that Star Cushion’s multi-celled air cushions will be included in Etac Group’s “Shape Up!” postural initiative and will support Etac’s new Ability Based Seating wheelchair concept.
