Blue Sky Therapy, in partnership with Numotion, is using telehealth to provide remote wheelchair assessments to patients in their homes, The Business Journal reports.

“At Blue Sky Therapy, patients are our top priority. When we found out that some patients may not get their medically necessary wheelchairs or might have to wait for an undetermined amount of time, we decided to act quickly to meet their needs and determine a solution,” Ashley Geer, director of clinical operations, says in a statement.

Wheelchair seating  is an important aspect of therapy, she continues, as it affects posture, functional mobility, and daily activities fall prevention. The therapists at Blue Sky Therapy work with certified assistive technology professionals to provide an assessment for the patient based on their needs and then make recommendations for equipment and training.

“Through this partnership, Blue Sky Therapy is able to assist in 100 wheelchair assessments and counting,” Geer adds. “We are proud to continue to provide quality services to patients from the comfort of their own home through teletherapy.”
