MedFirst Alert, Greer, SC, recently announced its launch of a new emergency personal response system (PERS). The device is designed to allow full two-way communication with emergency personnel in a wider coverage. John Nunnally, chief executive officer of MedFirst Alert, explains that the device allows users to speak and listen directly though the pendant itself. This allows on the spot voice communication with emergency personnel and provides users with more than 600 feet of effective communication range, Nunnally adds.

According to MedFirst Alert, the Medical Alert System is water resistant and may be worn in the bath or shower. The company reports that the device’s service is also provided in both English and Spanish.

The company highlights a recent study conducted by the National Council on Disability, which indicated that 80% of older adults who used assistive technology reduced their dependence on others.
