Sunrise Medical, Longmont, Colo, has announced changes in two executive-level positions. John M. Pellettiere has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer while Pete Coburn has joined the firm as senior vice president, mobility sales and marketing.

Pellettiere, a certified public accountant who has a masters management degree from Northwestern University, brings over 35 years of financial and general management experience in the health care industry to Sunrise, according to a company news release.

“Throughout my career I have had an opportunity to work with some exceptional professionals — individuals that always made a significant contribution to the organizations they work for and the teams that they build for success. John Pellettiere is one of those people and I’m delighted he is joining us,” said Michael N. Cannizzaro, Vice Chairman, President, and CEO of Sunrise Medical.

Pellettiere worked with Cannizzaro at Beltone Electronics as CFO, where, according to Cannizzaro, he transformed the company’s financial management processes and helped to dramatically improve overall performance. At Sunrise Medical, Pellettiere will manage global financial services from his office in Longmont.

Pellettiere began has worked in a variety of financial management positions at various healthcare companies including Baxter International and Caremark International.

Most recently, Pellettiere was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Concuity Inc, and previously was senior vice president, CFO and treasurer for AbilityOne Corporation. Prior to joining Beltone Pellettiere served as chief executive officer of Health Advance Institute, a clinical trials site management organization.

Coburn will lead the sales and marketing efforts for Sunrise Medical’s mobility division, which focuses on power and manual wheelchairs, including brands such as Quickie, Jay and Guardian.

“Pete brings both experience and insight from his 24 years in the health care industry, most recently serving as Vice President, Sales and Health Systems for Cardinal Health Medical Products and Services,” said Michael Cannizzaro, vice chairman, president, and CEO of Sunrise Medical. “In that role, Pete led a $500 million enterprise that provided healthcare products and services to physicians, surgery centers, long-term care and home health providers through a professional sales organization of 350 professionals.”

Coburn began his career in management for Abbey Medical and rose through the ranks at several noted medical concerns, including American Hospital Supply, Baxter Healthcare, and AllscriptsHealthcare Solutions prior to his position at Cardinal. “I provided some of the first Quickie wheelchairs to clients early in my career,” Coburn recalled. “To be part of delivering revolutionary technology to people that experienced life-changing events, and see how a new product can improve people’s lives are the reasons why I established my career in healthcare. When I was approached by Mike to lead sales and marketing of a company with a mission of ‘improving people’s lives,’ I jumped at the opportunity.”

Coburn will be based at the company’s facility located at East Dry Creek Parkway in Longmont, Colo.
