Convaid Inc, headquartered in Torrance, Calif, announces that it has been acquired by Swedish-based group Etac AB for an undisclosed amount.

Adaptive assisted wheelchair inventor Convaid, founded in 1976, produces custom-built mobility products for special needs children, according to the company’s website.

The range of mobility solutions Etac offers includes manual wheelchairs, advanced seating, patient transfer, and bathing and toilet. The products are marketed undr the Etac, Immedia, and R82 brands, per the announcement.

These are shared pillars of our companies’ cultures and we also share the mission of improving the lives of children with special needs and their families,” says Convaid President Chris Braun, in the release.
