Recently, it was announced that the product PROTEX, a cleaner/disinfectant, made available by Fairfield, NJ-based Parker Laboratories, will be the exclusive cleaner/disinfectant used in athletic training rooms at New Jersey’s Prudential Center, which hosts men’s and women’s professional basketball, Division I collegiate sports, a number of entertainment events and serves as the home of the National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils.

“We are proud that PROTEX has been selected by the Prudential Center to protect athletes and visitors who are attending events,” Neal Buchalter, president of Parker Laboratories, says. Rick Krezwick, Devils Arena Entertainment president, aligns, and elaborates on the assurance that PROTEX will protect visitors and athletes alike, he says, “Such assurance is in keeping with the high quality reputation that we seek to maintain at our first class facility.”

PROTEX is a one-step cleaner/disinfectant and is effective against pathogens, including MRSA, H1N1, HIV, and many others. The product can be used to disinfect vinyl exam tables and athletic mats, counter tops, exercise equipment, ultrasound transducers along with other hard, non-porous, non-surgical surfaces. It is registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

The product falls in step with the practices to prevent MRSA and other skin diseases outlined by the National Association of Athletic Trainers (NATA), one of which is using a disinfectant or detergent registered with the Environmental Protection Agency for routine cleaning.
