If occupational therapists and physical therapists follow only one piece of legislation this year it should be the Outpatient Therapy Modernization and Stabilization Act (H.R. 7154). Introduced June 11 by Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA), this bill seems to be the one thing standing between CMS’s proposed 8% reimbursement rollback for OT, PT, and speech-language pathology services.

Also, if passed, H.R. 7154 would permanently allow outpatient therapy providers to bill Medicare for outpatient therapy delivered via telehealth. The legislation has bi-partisan support from seven Democrats and one Republican.
