The NeuroRecovery Training Institute (NeuroRTI), Louisville, Ky, has tapped Karey McDowell as its senior vice president, Program Development and Sales.
A NeuroRTI news release reports that McDowell most recently served as co-director of the NeuroRecovery Network, where she managed the development and implantation of all operational processes, systems, and policies.
The release notes that McDowell earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Recreation and Park Administration from Eastern Kentucky University in 2000 and her Master of Science degree in Recreation and Park Administration with a concentration in Program Management in 2007. McDowell is also a certified therapeutic recreation specialist (CTRS) and a certified disability sports specialist (CDSS), and is a member of the National Federation of Professional Trainers (CPT).
“Karey is the perfect candidate to fill this critical position at NeuroRTI,” says John Childs, PT, PhD, MBA, CEO of Evidence in Motion (EIM), a principle in NeuroRTI. “Her experience and proven track record of success in the realm of neurological rehabilitation and wellness will be invaluable,” Childs adds.
Andrea Behrman, PT, PhD, NeuroRTI Founder, professor at the department of Neurological Surgery, University of Louisville, echoes Childs’ sentiments, noting, “Karey will certainly be an asset to NeuroRTI in fulfilling our vision to create internationally-scaled physical therapy neuro education programming through collaborative partnerships, integrating the best current evidence of neuro recovery into the practice of rehabilitation specialists to advance recovery and improve patient care.”
McDowell also has past experience as a CTRS and supervisor for a community fitness and wellness facility. In the release, McDowell emphasizes her excitement in joining the NeuroRTI team, which she says mirrors her own passion in elevating neurological physical therapy.
