Rehab Documentation and eStellarNet Sign Agreement The Rehab Documentation Co, Nashville, Tenn, and eStellarNet Inc, Concord, Calif, announced a comprehensive co-marketing agreement. The agreement brings payor connectivity to ReDoc™ software’s community of rehabilitation therapy professionals, while insurance companies and other payors using the P&C Transaction Hub expand their registered provider base and disability management resources. Under the agreement, physical therapists using ReDoc PT™ clinical software gain the capability to transmit Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant electronic bills and attachments directly to payors’ designated bill processing systems. eStellarNet services include claim number indexing, claim verification, bill editing and standardization, and payment status inquiry. To facilitate a full electronic rehabilitation invoicing solution, bills and attachments submitted to nonelectronic payors will be matched, collated, printed, and remitted by mail by eStellarNet. MJ Care Acquires Greenbriar Rehab MJ Care Inc, Milwaukee, announced its acquisition of Greenbriar Rehabilitation in an effort to expand into new markets. The addition of Greenbriar will significantly increase the number of MJ Care’s rehab therapy contracts. Because the sales territories of the two companies did not overlap, MJ Care expects the transition to occur smoothly, with all therapists and management personnel remaining in place. Active Services Acquires Deerfield Active Services Corp, Birmingham, Ala, announced the acquisition of the Deerfield Senior Services program in Greenville, Del. The new program, which will be named the Brandywine Active Day Center, is designed to help frail elderly and disabled adults remain independent in the community when they are faced with health problems ranging from Alzheimer’s disease to strokes and diabetes. The services are provided in a safe, home-like environment and include nursing and personal care, therapeutic activities, socialization with peers, and transport to and from the facility. U.S. PT Added to Stock Indexes U.S. Physical Therapy Inc, Houston, announced that it has been added to the Russell 2000® and Russell 3000® stock indexes, effective July 1, 2001. The Russell 3000 index measures the performance of the 3,000 largest US companies based on total market capitalization. The largest 1,000 companies in the ranking compose the Russell 1000® index, while the remaining 2,000 companies become the small-cap 2000 index. Ouch.com Partners with ASOP Ouch.com, an Internet-based health and medical vendor specializing in orthopedic and sports medicine products, announced that it has entered into a strategic relationship with the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP). PTPN Signs Contracts The PTPN outpatient rehabilitation network, Calabasas, Calif, announced that it has signed a contract with the Ventura County Foundation for Medical Care to provide outpatient rehabilitation services to members of the Foundation’s preferred provider organization (PPO), exclusive provider organization (EPO), and workers’ compensation networks. PTPN also announced the expansion of its current contract with the Los Angeles Foundation for Medical Care to cover members of the latter’s workers’ compensation program. Benchmark Makes Acquisition Outpatient physical rehabilitation services provider Benchmark Medical Inc, Malvern, Pa, announced the acquisition of Susquehanna Physical Therapy Associates Inc, which has clinics in Bloomsburg, Mifflinburg, and Lewisburg, Pa. The acquisition of Susquehanna Physical Therapy provides Benchmark with its fifth portfolio company in the outpatient physical rehabilitation market. OrthoRehab Purchases CPM Business OrthoRehab Inc (ORI), Tempe, Ariz, announced that it has completed the purchase of the continuous passive motion (CPM) business from OrthoLogic Corp. Along with the purchase of OrthoMotion Inc, the manufacturing operation in Canada, ORI acquired an extensive sales and service network composed of more than 70 offices across the United States. ORI is a manufacturer and provider of CPM equipment and markets devices previously sold under the brand names of Sutter, Danninger, Toronto Medical, and OrthoLogic.
