AXIOM SIGNS CONTRACT
Axiom Solutions International, Atlanta, signed a multi-year contract with Clinicient, LLC, Woodinville, Wash, allowing Axiom to provide Clinicient with its Application Service Provider (ASP) Independent Service Vendor (ISV) managed hosting solution. Axiom provides turnkey infrastructure and management to ISVs.

BENCHMARK ACQUIRES REHAB FACILITY
Benchmark Medical Inc, Malvern, Pa, announced it has acquired Frederick Orthopedic Rehabilitation Inc, Frederick, Md. Benchmark is a provider of musculoskeletal outpatient rehabilitation. With the addition of Frederick's two facilities, Benchmark now operates 180 service points in 12 states.

Gregg C. Vanderheiden, founder and director of the Trace Research & Development Center at the University of Wisconsin Madison, will keynote California State University Northridge's 17th Annual International Conference, "Technology and Persons with Disabilities" on March 20, 2002.

  • Helen Hayes Hospital, West Haverstraw, NY, announced the appointment of David G. Welch, MD, to the Board of Visitors of the physical rehabilitation hospital in West Haverstraw, NY.
  • The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF), Springfield, NJ, announced the election of Mark A. Belnick to its Board of Directors. Belnick is executive vice president and chief corporate counsel of Tyco International Ltd, and will serve a 3-year term as a director for CRPF.
  • Neal Pire, director of training for Plus One Fitness, New York, was awarded the 2001 Outstanding Contribution Award from the American College of Sports Medicine.
  • Brian Solberg, MD, has been appointed director of orthopedic trauma at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Solberg joins the non profit academic center after practicing orthopedic surgery in Modesto, Calif.
  • Good Shepherd, Allentown, Pa, has announced that Jane Dorval, MD, senior vice president of medical affairs and quality oversight, will become chair of the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF) Board of Trustees for the 2002 term. She served as chair-elect for 1 year.
