The Inside Track
Hymie Pogir
Hymie Pogir, vice president of sales and marketing for Stealth Products Inc, Burnet, Tex, spoke with Rehab Management about the company's current market niche and how it plans to grow in the near future.
Q:
Tell us about Stealth Products Inc.
A:
Stealth Products emerged into the market in 1999 as a manufacturer of high-quality hardware and bracketry that professionally connect headrests, joysticks, displays, and the multiple additional components needed to complete wheelchairs. The company offers simple functioning designs that are innovative and practical. Through positive customer feedback and suggestions to enter new markets, we have branched out to develop products for different segments, such as pediatric mobility. Customers say we can do a better job of producing some existing products (that are currently made by other manufacturers) by giving the product a "Stealth" touch-good design and excellent customer service. This is how and why the company has grown into a variety of areas.
Q:
Which of your company's products are you most excited about?
A:
There are three major products that we just introduced at Medtrade that I am excited about. The Lightning series, which is a range of pediatric mobility products that, at first glance, look like a nicely styled commercial product from Babies "R" Us, but they incorporate a range of features that you need for rehab applications, from built-in growth to back-angle adjustments, multi-adjustable footrests, crash testing, and more. The Niño series features a line of headrest and head-positioning systems, and torso supports that are specifically designed for pediatric applications.
Another product I find very exciting is the UltraQCR, a head-positioning system that can incorporate a mix of lateral facial pads and switches with occipital and suboccipital supports, all with minimal hardware that operates intuitively.
Q:
What industry trends do you follow?
A:
Stealth is moving toward manufacturing for pediatric mobility, and all the associated seating and positioning, so we look at what's going on in those markets. The Lightning is the first step in the mobility direction, and a lot of the seating and positioning components and devices will be coming soon. We also stay on top of the power chair industry, because a lot of our hardware deals with power chairs. Another area that is very significant for us is funding. We are very aware of the constriction in terms of reimbursements, and we do something about it - we have priced everything very aggressively and continue to do so. We believe that Stealth has to be part of the solution.
Q:
What keeps your customers coming back?
A:
The experience they get when they work with us. Not only do they receive quality products from us, we do exactly what we tell them we will. From the initial phone call, to receiving quality products on time and successfully implementing the products in daily use, Stealth's customers feel they have been treated like family throughout the process.
