BRUNO BUYS SWEDISH MANUFACTURER

Bruno Independent Living Aids, Oconomowoc, Wis, has purchased Autoadapt-Bev, AB, of Sweden. With this acquisition, Bruno has now become a multinational company with plants in Boras and Stenkullen, Sweden, as well as sales and distribution offices in Stockholm and Birmingham, England. The purchase also confirms Bruno’s confidence in Autoadapt’s Turning Automotive Seating™ products.

FENA CLOSES EQUITY OFFERING

FENA Design Inc, Plymouth, Minn, maker of the VERTRAN power standing mobility device, has closed on the first portion of an equity offering expected to total $3.6 million. With product development and testing complete, use of proceeds will be directed primarily toward sales and marketing. The deal was put together as a combination of funding from AAVIN Venture Capital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Virchow Krause Capital LLC, Madison, Wis.

SWIMEX GETS NEW OWNERSHIP

An investment group has acquired the SwimEx division of TPI Composites Inc, Warren, RI. The new company, now known as SwimEx Inc, was launched in November. The investment group is composed of three people with previous ties to SwimEx: Everett A. Pearson, Edward R. Marchetti, and Steven M. DaSilva. Pearson is the founder of TPI, and DaSilva has been general manager of the SwimEx division for the past 8 years. He will serve as president and CEO of SwimEx Inc. The company plans to remain in its current headquarters in Warren.

Former CEO of Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation, Pomona, Calif, and consultant, Dale Eazell, has published a book, Fund-Raising for the CEO and the Board Members. Eazell shares his thoughts on the reasons why people donate money, the importance of communications and building a donor relationship base, as well as advice on specific kinds of fund-raising...The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Tucson, Ariz, has announced that Herb Zaretsky, PhD, will chair the Board of Trustees for the 2003 term. Zaretsky, who served 1 year as chair-elect of the CARF Board, succeeds Jane Dorval, MD. In addition, the Board has unanimously elected five at-large trustees to serve 3-year terms. The five new trustees are: Bruce Christensen, executive director, Mountain Valley Developmental Services, Glenwood Springs, Colo; Richard T. Pulice, executive director, Research on Advancing Recovery, Albany, NY; Mary Aleese Schreiber, organizational development consultant, Stafford Management Group, Annapolis, Md; Herbert A. Start, retired rehabilitation administrator, Hope Network Community Partnership Center, Grand Rapids, Mich; and Maurine Dyer Stevens, president/CEO, California Rehabilitation Association, Sacramento, Calif.
