REHACare Trade Fair to Feature Special Exhibits

REHACare International 2002, the 13th International Trade Fair for Those with Special Needs and Those Requiring Care, takes place on October 23-26 in Düsseldorf, Germany, and will feature exhibits for specific target groups. Among the highlights at the show will be a gallery of cars and other vehicles designed for people with disabilities, as well as an exhibit illustrating how color, lighting, and interior design materials can support therapeutic treatments and positively influence the mind and body. At press time, 459 exhibitors from 24 countries had registered to participate in the show. More than 800 companies and 48,000 visitors are expected.

National Seating Hires New CFO

National Seating & Mobility, Nashville, Tenn, has hired Tim I. Maddox as its new CFO. Maddox was formerly vice president of financial operations for PhyCor Inc, also in Nashville. In that position, he managed 11 independent practice associations, eight physician hospital organizations, and three health maintenance organizations. In addition, he has held positions with Advantage Care Inc, Arnett Managed HealthPlans, Humana, and HealthPlus HMO.

Drive Medical Acquires Winmed Products

Drive Medical Design & Manufacturing, Farmingdale, NY, has acquired the assets of Winmed Products Co, Ft Myers, Fla. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Drive Medical is a manufacturer of durable medical equipment, including wheelchairs, hospital beds, bathroom safety products, respiratory products, and electrotherapy products.

Benchmark Announces Acquisitions, New Hire

Benchmark Medical Inc, Malvern, Pa, has acquired Blue Hen Physical Therapy of Northern Delaware. The acquisition includes both of Blue Hen’s outpatient rehabilitation centers, located in Wilmington and Newark. In addition, the company has acquired Basile Physical Therapy, Berwick, Pa. This acquisition gives Benchmark six points of service in northeastern Pennsylvania. Basile specializes in outpatient physical therapy and also offers a post-treatment fitness program to patients. Benchmark also announces that it has appointed Sandi Schwartz to vice president of operations and sales, marketing, and networks. In this role, Schwartz will be responsible for managing Benchmark’s national sales team.

AMTI Announces New Measurement System

AMTI, Watertown, Mass, has announced the availability of Force 5, a multipurpose force measurement system designed for researchers and engineers testing material, fatigue, orthopedic, and product subjects under multi-force conditions. The single station product is a servo-hydraulic machine with four independent actuators.
