Practice Builders Moves to New Headquarters
Practice Builders, a marketing and advertising agency that teaches physicians and other medical professionals how to advertise and market their practices, has moved to new headquarters. The company will now be located at 1 MacArthur Place, Suite 200, South Coast Metro, CA 92707; (714) 751-7960. A subsidiary of Medical World Communications (MWC), of Jamesburg, NJ, Practice Builders has been providing marketing and advertising guidance to health care professionals since 1980.

Steadman-Hawkins Launches New Web Site
The Steadman-Hawkins Sports Medicine Foundation, Vail, Colo, recently launched its redesigned Web site, www.shsmf.org. The purpose of the Web site is to provide both the general public and medical specialists with the information generated by the Foundation's orthopedic research, and articles, studies, frequently asked questions, papers, and contact information will now all be available online.

Founded in 1988 by J. Richard Steadman, the Foundation is an international nonprofit center for orthopedic research and education. Its mission is to promote the development of leading-edge techniques, technologies, and treatment for arthritis, degenerative joint disease, and osteoarthritis.

Lift Wins Wisconsin Product Award
The Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE) honored Bruno Independent Living Aids, Oconomowoc, Wis, as part of Wisconsin's 32nd Annual Governor's New Product Award (GNPA) program.

The firm took top honors for product development for its Curbsider Super XL3, a lift with a power telescoping lift arm. This arm enables the lift to maneuver large mobility devices into the backs of automobiles with restrictive openings.

The GNPA program recognizes Wisconsin manufacturers that contribute to the state's economic growth through the development, manufacturing, and marketing of new and innovative products. It is sponsored annually by WSPE in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce.

Convaid Celebrates Silver Anniversary
Convaid Inc, Torrance, Calif, celebrates 25 years in business this year. Established in 1976 by Merv Watkins in his garage, Convaid has since grown to a company with more than 80 employees, and was named one of the 100 fastest-growing private companies by the Los Angeles Business Journal in both 1999 and 2000.

Promotion at Otto Bock
Otto Bock Health Care North America, Minneapolis, recently appointed Randy Stoykewich to the position of sales training and development manager. A mechanical technologist, Stoykewich is a 10-year veteran of the company with 15 years' experience in computer-based design systems. In his new position, he will be responsible for the development and implementation of sales and product training programs for Otto Bock North America.

Healthsouth NERH Acquires Testing Devices
Healthsouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital (NERH), Woburn, Mass, has acquired two Alara MetriScan™ osteoporosis testing devices. One will be installed at Woburn, with the other to be located in the hospital's South Dartmouth center.

A self-contained device, the MetriScan is designed to allow physicians to perform in-office bone mineral density testing on patients at risk for osteoporosis and related bone fractures. The test does not use gels and provides a turnaround time of less than 2 minutes.

SunBridge "Deficiency Free"
SunBridge Care and Rehab for Brookline, Brookline, Mass, received a "deficiency-free" rating as a result of a facility audit by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The result means that the facility is in full compliance with state regulations governing nursing homes.
