Rehab Veteran Joins Investment Firm

Richard "Dick" Clarke, a health care finance and consolidation veteran, has partnered with investment banking company Chaffe & Associates, New Orleans. Clarke works to develop pre-IPO and venture-backed health care services start-ups specific to market consolidation by acquisition strategies. Chaffe & Associates provides transaction, finances, and advisory services to health care service providers and hospitals across the country.

DBC Announces Free Software

DB Consultants Inc, Ottsville, Pa, has announced that it is now offering AS/PC®, its practice management and insurance billing software, as a free download on the company's Web site, www.dbconsultants.com. Clinics in the market for practice management software can download, install, and begin to use a fully functional trial version of AS/PC®, which includes an online library with full installation manuals and workbooks that can also be downloaded at no charge.

Seals Honors Invacare Corp

Easter Seals recognized a recent contribution of Invacare Corp, Elyria, Ohio, at the charity's annual corporate partner appreciation gala dinner in Las Vegas on May 4. Since 1994, Invacare-sponsored Invacare Days, wheelchair sports clinics at Easter Seals locations nationwide, have collected product donations and hosted special events totaling more than $1 million in resources. This year, Invacare gave wheelchairs to former Easter Seals National Representatives Bridget Houlihan, Dan Giuliano, and Beverly Jones.

Lephart Receives Clancy Medal

Scott Lephart, PhD, ATC, director of the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Center for Sports Medicine, has been awarded the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Research and Education Foundation's William G. Clancy, Jr, MD, Medal for Distinguished Research. Lephart is associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS), and chairman of SHRS' Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition.

Healthpoint Introduces New Ointment

Healthpoint, Fort Worth, Tex, has launched Xenaderm, a prescription ointment that promotes healing and is a protective wound covering. The product physiologically stimulates the capillary bed, increases circulation, and improves epithelialization by reducing premature epithelial desiccation. Healthpoint researches tissue management, dermatology, and infection prevention.
