Sunrise Medical Donates Wheelchairs Sunrise Medical's Team Quickie, Longmont, Colo, a national sports and recreation program that sponsors athletes with disabilities, teamed with Gwynn/Steinbrenner Racing (GSR) to donate wheelchairs to five young adults with spinal cord injuries. The donations were made at the request of Darrell Gwynn, coowner of GSR, in lieu of payment for acting as a spokesperson for Quickie wheelchairs. One wheelchair was presented to 17-year-old Alicia Zody of Marshall, Ill, who was paralyzed in a car accident. Signature 2000 Purchased On August 31, 2001, Signature 2000 Inc, North East, Pa, was sold to Todd M. Dinner by Health Care Solutions. Dinner ran the business as general manager for 15 months before buying the company. The goals of reduced lead times and increased product quality will continue to evolve under the new ownership. The business will continue to operate as Signature 2000 in its new location in Erie, Pa. Collaboration Announced A partnership between Body Tech NW, Mukilteo, Wash, a wheelchair accessory manufacturer, was established with Heather Wylie, a sales and marketing expert within the wheelchair industry. Senator Visits Chattanooga Group Senator Max Cleland (D-Ga) visited Chattanooga Group Inc, Hixson, Tenn, to see the latest products in rehabilitation. The company displayed several of its products for the senator. Cleland is a decorated Vietnam War veteran and former head of the Veterans Administration under President Carter. Nederveld, president and CEO of Brooks Rehab Solutions, Grand Haven, Mich, has retired. Nederveld founded the company in 1968, which was then called Gary Nederveld & Associates, later known as GNA. The company grew into one of the largest regional rehabilitation providers in the country.
