Wheelchair Seating System

VARILITE®, Seattle, introduces the Evolution Wave™ seating system designed for clients who have a high risk of tissue breakdown and require a high degree of pelvic and lower extremity lateral and medial positioning. It is available in three styles that target a client’s specific lower extremity and/or pelvic positioning needs. The positioning bases feature contoured lateral thigh supports, lateral pelvic supports, and a contoured medial thigh separator. Pressure distribution is achieved through the Evolution air-foam floatation cushion. Immersion and pressure distribution are controlled with the two-way air valve. Both the 1-foot and 3-foot lengths are available in 6 inch round and half-round. Foam rollers can be used for self-massage, balance, and core stability exercises. Walking Aid

Innovation in Motion, Angola, Ind, presents the Birillo by ORMESA, a seating alternative that allows children from 2 to 8 years old to self-propel themselves while in a seated position. The triangular sitting position prevents extreme hip and trunk extension that contributes to correct posture. The child’s posture stimulates the movement of the arms and the rotation of the trunk. Children accept the Birillo as a toy, due to its color and shape, stimulating their curiosity about exploring the surrounding environment. The Birillo plays an important part in the development of the perceptive and motor visual functions of the child and is available in four different sizes.
