US News and World Report America's Best Hospitals: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Ranks HighSpaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston, has again been recognized as one the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country, climbing to a rank of No. 4 in the rehabilitation hospitals category in the 2010 US News and World Report America's Best Hospitals issue, achieving its highest rank to date. Spaulding continues to be the only rehabilitation hospital in New England ranked each year since 1995. Spaulding's ranking on the US News reputational survey has climbed steadily since its initial appearance in 1995, and Spaulding has placed in the top 10 each year since 2003. The rankings are calculated through a number of factors, including voting by physician peers nationwide. "Spaulding's recognition is an honor and an acknowledgement of our growth not only as a leader in care but also as a leader in teaching and research. With national experts such as Dr Joe Giacino helping us focus on the biology of recovery, I fully expect Spaulding's prominence to grow even more," said Ross Zafonte, DO, VP of medical services for Spaulding and the chair of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Spaulding has maintained and improved upon its standard of excellence in health care along with fellow Partners HealthCare hospitals 2010 Honor Roll members Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women's, and highly ranked McLean Hospital, all perennial members on the Best Hospitals list. A member of Partners HealthCare, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is the flagship facility of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, which includes the Spaulding main campus, a 196-bed facility, located in Boston; Spaulding Hospital Cambridge; Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands; Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital; three skilled nursing facilities: North End Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Boston Center for Rehabilitation and Sub-Acute Care; and the Clark House; as well as 16 outpatient sites throughout the Greater Boston area. Spaulding is a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School as well as the official rehabilitation hospital of the New England Patriots. [Source: Spaulding Rehabilitation Network] SPONSORS
