Erector Set Toys a Model Mobility Solution for the World’s Poor

A solution that could bring low-cost mobility aids to the world’s poor populations may look a lot like the popular Erector Set toys sold in America. An engineering student at Brunel University London says simplified, interchangeable parts, such as those found in Erector Sets could enable mobility device repairs to be performed quickly, and affordably.

Cali Solorio Joins Ottobock as Marketing Manager

Cali Solorio has taken a role as Ottobock’s marketing manager, where she will support new product introductions for the company’s orthopedic rehab business. Ottobock says it will also look to Solorio to add expertise to its product life cycle management.

Ottobock C-Leg Grand Prize Winner Announced

Ottobock has chosen an action image of amputee Carlos Gonzalez as the $1,000 Grand Prize winner of the C-Leg Heroes 15 year anniversary photo contest. The winning photo of Gonzalez, a San Francisco resident, depicts him performing a shoulder-level front kick from a martial arts sport he took up following his amputation.

Mayo Clinic Chooses Epic as EHR Solution for “Several Decades”

The Mayo Clinic reports that it will replace the three electronic health records (EHR) systems it currently has in place campus-wide with Epic, a single integrated EHR and revenue cycle management system. More than 45,000 Mayo clinic staff members will be trained on the new system, which will replace existing EHRs from GE and Cerner, and Mayo’s own self-developed system.
