The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation Quality of Life Grants Program awarded a total of $735,482 to 107 nonprofit organizations nationwide during the second cycle of 2015.
The grants are awarded twice yearly to nonprofit organizations to help increase the quality of life for those living with paralysis. To determine the recipients, grant requests are evaluated and scored based on a rigorous review process to determine funding for organizations that promote the health and well-being for those living with paralysis, as well as their families and caregivers, explains a media release from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
“For this cycle, we strategically focused on supporting organizations in medically underserved areas, where groups of county or civil divisions have a shortage of personal health services or face economic, cultural, or linguistic barriers to healthcare for residents. Our goal is to help improve their communities and provide accessibility to a wider population of people,” says Maggie Goldberg, vice president of policy and programs, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, in the release.
Among the recipients in this cycle of giving are: Foundation of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans ($12,000); Through the Looking Glass (TLG), Berkeley, Calif ($25,000); The Chickasaw Nation, Ada, Okla ($24,715); and Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital, Chicago ($5,000).
