Pearson, a learning company headquartered in San Antonio, announces a partnership with OccupationalTherapy.com to offer online continuing education courses to help occupational therapists support children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD).
A media release explains that DCD is a condition that makes children struggle with daily activities, such as getting dressed, tying their shoes, managing stairs, or handwriting. Up to 5% of school-age children are affected by this disorder, and this four-part series of courses is designed to help occupational therapists support them.
Per the release, the series includes: “An Introduction to Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and Its Consequences,” presented by Sheila E. Henderson, Dip PE, BA, MA, PhD, CPsychol, AFBPsS; “Assessment of Children with Developmental Coordination Disorder,” presented by Anna Barnett, BA, PhD, CPsychol, AFBPsS; “Developmental Coordination Disorder: A Focus on Handwriting,” presented by Mellissa Prunty, PhD, OT; and “Intervention in Children With DCD: Working With Parents and Professionals,” presented by David Sugden, BSc, PhD, AFBPsS, FBPEA, FIALD, IFAKA.
