Together, Ally Financial, BraunAbility, and Superior Van & Mobility have donated a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to an elementary school student and his family.
For the last several months, the residents of Mt Washington, Ky, have been raising funds to help elementary school student Travis Holbert and his family purchase more suitable transportation.
Inspired by the community’s efforts, the companies came together and presented a BraunAbility Dodge side-entry wheelchair van to Holbert and his family during a surprise ceremony at Crossroads Elementary School, explains a media release from Ally Financial, BraunAbility, and Superior Van & Mobility.
The donation also served as a way to thank the students at the school for their fund-raising efforts, which had collected more than $5,000 for the Team Travis fund, which was created by Crossroads Elementary School teachers Teresa Cox, Kim Thomas, Becky Keown, Cory Hall and Brittany Jessie.
With the vehicle donation, the funds raised can be used for ongoing expenses, the release adds.
“Not many people understand how important having reliable, accessible transportation is to a young man like Travis,” says Greg Kiser, vice president of sales at Indiana-based BraunAbility. “We were inspired by the way the school came together to support him, and we are privileged to help make life easier for this deserving family.”
