Rehab Management Editorial Board Member, Mike Studer, PT, will attempt to set a new record for fastest underwater marathon. Studer, who is a two-time APTA Clinician of the Year will make his run at setting the new mark 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at 3220 Liberty Rd S, which is the site of an open house celebration for Northwest Rehabilitation Associates, an outpatient clinic for which Studer is president.

Studer holds the current world record, published in the 2013 edition of “Ripley’s Believe it or Not.”

The open house begins at 5 p.m., and the marathon begins at 6 p.m. The marathon will be run on a state-of-the art underwater treadmill. To set a ne record, Studer must complete the distance before 9:34 p.m.

Studer notes that he is undertaking this world record attempt in an effort to help raise funds for two charitable organizations: 4Him2Day, a pediatric cancer fund that supports families in need, and The Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Foundation

Although Northwest Rehabilitation Associates can accept tax-deductible donations at anytime, Studer say that to be recognized as a donor at the event individuals or organizations are encouraged to make donations prior to the Sept. 12 open house.

Studer notes that friends and colleagues throughout Salem are invited to attend this open house, and be a part of this world record attempt. Donations for the two charities are also welcomed before and during the event.

“Local businesses and individuals are donating already,” Studer says. He adds, “If you have an employer — or you own your own businesses — and would like to be a part of the sponsorship, please contact us directly.”

Studer says more information is available at (503) 371-0779, or via email: [email protected].
