A news release issued by Craig Hospital reports that Olympic swimmer Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, aged 41 years old, arrived Wednesday to the Englewood, Colo-based facility. Van Dyken-Rouen, who is from Colorado, was transported to Craig Hospital from Scottsdale Healthcare Osborne Medical Center Wednesday by Angel MedFlight to begin her comprehensive rehabilitation for her spinal cord injury (SCI).
Van Dyken-Rouen sustained her SCI following an ATV accident.

The release notes that Van Dyken-Rouen will join approximately 40 other inpatients with her type of injury from around the nation who are currently undergoing the specialized SCI rehabilitation at Craig Hospital. Van Dyken-Rouen will have a SCI “interdisciplinary” team comprised of herself, her husband and family, a physician, rehab nurses and rehab nurse technicians, physical therapist, occupational therapist, clinical psychologist, therapeutic recreation specialist, dietician, clinical care manager, and others.
The release also states that Craig Hospital’s public relations will work closely with Van Dyken-Rouen on her media wishes and a plan to keep the public updated.
