According to a recent TiEcon news release, Constant Therapy developer of cloud-based mobile solutions designed to assist individuals with cognitive, learning, communication, and learning disorders, has been selected as a winner at the 2014 TiE50 Awards Program in the Life Sciences category.

Constant Therapy provides tools designed to personalize brain rehabilitation for patients using an iPad anywhere and at anytime. Constant Therapy offers 58 evidence-based tasks and up to 10 levels of difficulty. The company’s website notes that a range of patients may benefit from Constant Therapy, including patients who have sustained a stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), dementia, or children with a various forms of language, cognitive, behavior, or learning disabilities including autism.

Constant Therapy reportedly finds its origins in research from Boston University, the website says, and aims to incorporate the latest evidence-based tasks shown to improve outcomes linked to speech, language, communication, and cognitive deficits.

In the release, Veera Anatha, co-founder and CEO, emphasizes the company’s excitement in being selected as a winner, “given the large number of great companies that participated. Constant Therapy makes it possible for millions of stroke and brain injury survivors to continue to improve, take control of their rehabilitation, and change their lives.”

The release notes that in order to determine a winner, a panel of experts screened companies and created a list of the “2014 TiE50 Top Startups.” A screen committee of deep domain experts then reviewed the list. About 100 of the “best of breed” companies were selected to the finalist pool. The finalist pool was the judged by a team panel comprised of serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors, CEOs, and technology experts, to determine finalists and winners. Companies were evaluated by business model, IP value, and leadership team.

Ram K. Keddy, program chair, explains that this year, “the TiE50 Awards Program screened more than 2,800 companies from 27 countries. The finalist pool was represented by early through late stage companies.”

TiEcon is a conference for entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs with loyal participation from top technology companies, leading venture capital firms, and global service providers. The release notes that TiEcon 2012 attracted more than 3,000 attendees from across the world. Attendees included CEOs of established companies to first-time entrepreneurs creating new companies, to leading investment professionals and corporate executives.
