Closing the Chasm: Disability Employment Issues
In her most recent post, Ann Eubank emphasizes the employment “chasm” that lies between individuals affected by a disability and those who are not. The blog is sponsored by TiLite.
A disparity is underscored by recent statistics that indicate 17.8% of individuals with disabilities are employed, compared to a 63.9% employment population among individuals without disabilities. In the shadow of those figures, the Department of Labor has just announced the theme of this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). That action, Eubank suggests, begs consideration for how it might “ripple out in a way that creates real benefit to disabled job seekers?”
Eubank encourages readers to sound off about NDEAM, and how they see it affecting employment among individuals affected by disability who are seeking work.
