CAF Named as Official Charity Partner of Reebok Spartan Race

Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) was recently chosen as Reebok Spartan Race’s official Charity Partner in the 2014 US Reebok Spartan Race. CAF aims to offer opportunities and support to individuals with physical disabilities in order to allow them to pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. A recent news release from CAF states that a record number of CAF-supported athletes also qualified to compete in the past 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympic Games, with more than 50% of Team USA garnering support from the group.

Virginia Tinley, executive director, CAF, articulates the organization’s excitement in being named the official Charity Partner of the 2014 US Reebok Spartan Race. “An obstacle course race designed to test resilience, strength, stamina, and the ability to thrive in face of adversity is perfectly aligned with what our challenged athletes do on a daily basis,” Tinley says.

Joe De Sena, founder and CEO of Spartan Race, adds, “We see challenged athletes on our course more and more—we are not only to honored to assist in raising funds for CAF but also happy to have a partner that shares in our philosophy that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence, and enhances quality of life.”

The release notes that Spartan Race will raise funds for CAF through a range of channels, such as registration pages, event activations, and media/marketing campaigns. CAF will also coordinate grant presentations at select Spartan Race events and provide athletes to participate in Spartan Race events.
