Ottobock recently announced that its senior market and training manager for Ottobock Mobility Solutions, John Phillips, has earned a Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS) Certification from the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA).

According to Ottobock, the accomplishment makes Phillips one of 120 people in North America to achieve the certification. The specialty certification’s exam focuses specifically on seating, positioning, and mobility.

The program is intended for clinicians, suppliers, engineers, and others involved in seating and mobility service provision. RESNA states that the certification recognizes demonstrated competence in seating and mobility assessment, funding resources, implementation of intervention, outcome assessment, and follow-up.

Jason Curtis, director of Marketing for Mobility Solutions, designates Phillips as a “tremendous asset to Ottobock and the Complex Rehab Market for more than 18 years, and this certification is in addition to his existing credentials of ATP and CFo.” Curtis adds that the company appreciates Phillips’ continued investment and for the value and credibility he brings to Ottobock.
