A new electric compact vehicle marketed by EcoCentre, headquartered in Riverside, Calif, offers wheelchair users access through an adjustable rear ramp to eliminate the need for transfers. The Eco M vehicle is designed to allow users to drive on local streets at speeds of up to 25 mph.

It is intended to provide wheelchair users accessible transportation to run errands or engage in a “leisurely drive.” Users can roll in and drive off thanks to a bracket and floor catch locks engineered to lock the wheelchair to the car. The vehicle also features a three-point seat belt to secure the driver, as well as electric windows and mirrors. The Eco M’s rear hatch can be opened with a remote key fob and its rear ramp is built to automatically adjust for entry from the ground or from the curb.
