ann22Ann Eubank’s latest blog post highlights the beauty of the underdog and the battle to be fought against a behemoth insurance system that puts policy before patients. As vice president of Community Initiatives of the grassroots movement UsersFirst, Eubank (pictured right) is no stranger to battles. She characterizes the advocacy group as the “David” to the insurance system’s “Goliath.”

The odds, Eubank says, may be against the underdog, but the underdogs are willing to meet the challenge and “push for more” for mobility equipment users. “That’s why it can be an exciting story,” Eubank says. With nothing to lose as an underdog, and “we are all underdogs,” clinicians can learn to see beyond fear of failure and instead, use it to achieve success in a system ruled by policies and guidelines.
