mayoAccording to a recent news release, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) renewed accreditations for 10 Mayo Clinic Rochester rehabilitation programs. The distinction is reportedly the ninth consecutive 3-year accreditation that CARF has awarded to Mayo Clinic. The release reports that CARF recognizes 3-year accreditation as “an indication of an organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of lives of the persons served. The services, personnel, and documentation indicate an established pattern of excellence.”

The Rochester, Minn-organization notes in the release that the inpatient rehabilitation programs that received accreditation encompass general practice as well as the specialty programs of pediatrics, amputation, brain injury, pediatric brain injury, spinal cord injury (SCI), and stroke. In addition, the organization’s outpatient brain injury, SCI, and vocational rehabilitation programs also received full accreditation.

Carmen Terzic, MD, PhD, Mayo Clinic physiatrist, chair of the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department, emphasizes that, “CARF accreditation reflects Mayo Clinic’s strong commitment to providing our patients with the highest quality of integrated rehabilitation care, and accreditation in so many areas reflects the breadth and depth of care we are able to provide.”
