Joan Lunden, journalist, entrepreneur, health and wellness advocate and former co-host of ABC’s Good Morning America will serve as special guest host of the Casa Colina 75th Anniversary Gala, June 1. Casa Colina reports that the gala black tie event will be held at the Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center in Pomona, Calif. Its proceeds will go to benefit Casa Colina’s programs and services.
Lunden states that she has, “always been drawn to and inspired by remarkable stories of courage, which is why I am honored to host the Casa Colina 75th Anniversary Gala,” as the facility has assisted a range of patients with debilitating conditions and devastating injuries in overcoming challenges to regain independence, Lunden says.
Felice L. Loverso, PhD, president, CEO, Casa Colina, and the facility’s Board of Directors have targeted the rebuilding, renovation and revitalization of Casa Colina since 1988, creating a vision for Casa Colina by addressing the needs of the community. Casa Colina notes that after 75 years, it continues to expand its facilities and services, beginning with the opening of a new 24,000 square-foot Medical Office Building on the Pomona Campus in June 2013. T
he release notes that construction will also begin in 2013 on an additional 31 medical-surgical beds for Casa Colina Hospital, which will include three operating rooms, one procedure room, and six surgical intensive care beds. With its goal to provide high quality, specialized services that complement the work of hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, Loverso adds that, “Casa Colina’s expansion efforts will continue this long and cooperative tradition, providing options for patients and physicians that extend the capabilities of health services in the region.”
