Penske Truck Rental To Sponsor Non-Profit’s Face of America Ride

The World T.E.A.M Sports’ Face of America bicycle ride is scheduled for April 26 to 28. The annual event features more than 100 disabled veterans from the US and Canada. A news release notes that another 400 veterans, active duty, and civilian riders will join the two day ride. The ride will extend from the Pentagon in Arlington, Va, to the battlefields of Gettysburg, Pa. Penske Truck Rental will be returning as a key sponsor for the event, according to the release.

Veterans with disabilities joining the ride include individuals living with a range of disabilities from limb loss to blindness to post traumatic stress. The release also reports that many of the veterans will ride hand cycles for 110-mile journey.

Van Brinson, sports chief operations officer, notes that Penske Truck Rental has been a trusted and committed supporter, “…It is through long term relationships such as this that we will be able to continue to grow this organization and pursue our mission,” Brinson says.

Don Mikes, Penske senior vice president of rental, echoes Brinson’s sentiment, adding, “We’re very pleased to again support this year’s Face of America bicycle ride.”

According to the release, the Face of America ride was originally run as a cross-country journey in the year 2000 by world T.E.A.M. Sports. Teams from both costs reportedly met at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Mo. The ride also served as the official 9/11 commemorative ride from Ground Zero in New York to the Pentagon. The current route has been followed since 2006.
