Walton Rehabilitation Health System recently spotlighted Eric Dykes, a triathlete dedicated to competing for the Walton Foundation’s Camp To Be Independent (TBI). Dykes has worked to raise awareness and support for the foundation’s annual summer camp for the past two years. A recent news release notes that the summer camp is intended for children and young adults aged 8 years old to 21 years old with traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).
Dykes serves as CEO if United Technology Group (UTG), which the Walton Rehabilitation Health System adds has embraced Camp TBI company-wide through fundraisers held throughout the year. Most recently, Dykes reportedly raised a total of $8,055 for Camp TBI through his participation in the Ironman Florida Triathlon.
Vicki Greene, (pictured above, second from the left) vice president of development for the Walton Foundation, notes that, “It is thanks to his support, and the support of others like Eric, that we are able to provide this wonderful camp experience free of charge every year to up to 50 children and young adults with traumatic brain injuries,” Greene says. Also included in the image above is Alice Salley (left) camp director, Camp TBI, and Dennis Skelley, president, Walton Foundation.
Dykes explains his passion for supporting the camp, “I am passionate about supporting this cause because these children prove that you can have a positive perspective in any situation. I think we can all learn a lot from the kids at Camp TBI.”
