The Rehab Rally Conference & Expo 2011, a national continuing education conference for the disciplines of physical and occupational therapy and allied professions, will feature Graceann Forrester and Andrea Wolkenberg presenting The New Science of Therapeutic Taping: Theory, Practice and Treatment Progression.
Attendees will learn the basic theory, function, and application principles for each, including the Kinesio Taping Method. Through lecture and demonstration, attendees will learn taping treatment protocols paired with other modalities for some common clinical conditions.
"Therapeutic taping has progressed over the past several decades from being a modality that simply prevents injury by prohibiting or limiting motion, to one that can influence muscle function, release fascial restrictions, improve circulation, support tendon and ligament, and prevent pathological movement patterns," says Graceann Forrester, PT, DPT, CKTI.
The event, to be held from July 28 to 31 in Orlando, Fla, at the Gaylord Palms Resort, is hosted by HomeCEUConnection.com, a provider of home-based continuing education.
Forrester is cowriting a new course on therapeutic taping with Andrea Wolkenberg, PT, MA, CKTI, who serves as clinical coordinator and instructor for the Spine Options physical therapy department’s student program and trains doctoral physical therapy students from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York. The course provides information for taping during the acute, subacute, rehab, and chronic phases following injury.
