The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) has named Precilla Wilkewitz as President of the veterans group based in Washington, DC. Wilkewitz, a Vietnam War veteran who served from 1966-69, replaces DVNF co-founder Delilah Washburn who passed away in April.
In addition to her new leadership position with DVNF, Wilkewitz is the State Quarter Master Adjutant for the Louisiana Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 2005, Wilkewitz was reappointed by Louisiana Governor Kathleen B. Blanco to serve on the Louisiana Veterans Affairs Commission for a six-year term, ending in 2011. Under the direction of Governor Bobby Jindal, she helped them orchestrate the first Annual Women Veterans Forum to educate women veterans about VA entitlements.
DVNF is now one of the fastest growing veterans groups in the country with more than one million donors. DVNF is committed to change the lives of men and women who came home wounded or sick after defending America’s safety and freedom. As part of its efforts, DVNF provides grant money to individual veterans and financial support to the shelters that help veterans and their families. To date, over 40,000 veterans across the United States have received necessities like clothing, water, vitamins, and other non-perishable items to veteran shelters thanks to DVNF and its donors.
Beyond providing direct assistance to veterans, DVNF is committed to informing the public about the need to help disabled veterans and their families and is using its new website, www.dvnf.org to post news relevant to America’s veterans, information on how to receive grants and donations as well as fundraising statistics and testimonials from some of the veterans who have benefited from DVNF’s efforts.
DVNF also announced the hiring of Raegan Rivers as Chief Administrative Officer. Rivers will manage the groups newly opened office on I Street in Washington, DC.
