Sunrise Medical, an international manufacturer and distributor of medical products and assistive technology devices, has issued a statement clarifying its current warranty policies. This clarification was released to the industry after a participant on a recent CMS call indicated that the Longmont, Colo-based company had recently revised its warranties in direct response to regulatory changes.

According to Genevieve Dubuc, Sunrise’s vice president of marketing for North America, Sunrise has not made any recent changes to our warranty parameters, including those associated with capped rental items, as a result of the latest regulatory policy. In light of recent regulatory developments, it is likely that all manufacturers are evaluating the impact to their existing warranty policies.” She concludes that the process will take time, considering the numerous factors involved when evaluating warranties.

Kees Regeling, president of DeVilbiss, respiratory products division of Sunrise Medical, responded to queries as to whether the company will change current warranty policy, It is our practice to periodically evaluate our warranty policies to ensure they continue to serve the needs of the market. However, we have not adjusted our warranty policies as a reaction to policy change. Our concentrator warranty has been in place since the launch of the 515A in 2005.
